Baja Weather PDF Print

After surfing the web avidly, asking locals and Baja residents, and testing several websites for accuracy while in Baja, we found the 2 best sites offered for accurate weather in Baja.

ACCUWEATHER offers extended weather forecasts for the smallest towns located on the Peninsula.  You can find weather forecast up to 15 days ahead for places like Gonzaga, Puertecitos, and other small towns.  This site nails it most of the time and is more accurate than other resources we've used.  It is a great second choice for those not wanting to pay for the service.  If you cannot find your town location, check maps for accurate names - for instance, you will find Gonzaga only by its real name: San Luis Gonzaga.  Also, make sure to click on 'English' vs. Metric when looking at the forecast.

BUOY WEATHER is very accurate; however, you can only view 'current' weather if you subscribe.  At this site, hover over North America & then Mexico to click on Baja.  Select the grid-square in the area you want weather.  It will provide wind, wave, and weather info.  If you go to Baja often needing weather, it's worth the subscription as this site will give you the most accurate weather forecasts of any resource.

Here are the tricks to using accuweather:

  1. 1. When you 'search' for a city, you need to put in the full real name.  For instance, if you type in Gonzaga, you won't find anything because the real name is San Luis Gonzaga.
  2. 2.  The site may list more than one San Luis Gonzaga towns and list them as (Baja California) or (Baja California Sur) *as there is a small village called San Luis Gonzaga near Soledad north of La Paz as well.
  3. 3.  When you type in the full real name of the town you wish, follow it with Baja California.  Usually, a list will appear with a plethora of San Felipe towns from Peru, Argentina, Mexico, etc.  Look thoroughly, it may be listed as San Felipe, Mexico (Baja California) alphabetically.
  4. 4.  Once you find the town you are looking for, the site shows Celsius.  Click on the little blue tab 'English' just below the town name by the date and it will convert to Fahrenheit
  5. From here, you can click to see today or up to 15 days down the calendar!  Study the site.... it rocks!
